Birthday Swag!

August 25, 2014 in Uncategorized

My wonderful Ravelry group does a birthday gift exchange which is awesome because no one can shop for a crafter like another crafter.  My present this year came all the way from Canada with some beautiful Sweet Georgia yarn, fun and colorful stitch markers, and tea!  Thank you Marie-Claude!  I also got a Blue Moon Fiber Arts gift card from my friend Hope along with the Port Ludlow Sock and Vodka Lemonade cardigan pattern. It’s been a great birthday!

New hooks!

Dreamz symphonie interchangeable tunisian crochet hooks | riotofdaisies.com

One of my goals for this year is to start designing clothing.  I love the look and feel of knitted fabric for clothing but I don’t want to design in knit, so I’m going to give tunisian crochet a shot.  To this end I decided to purchase the Dreamz Symfonie interchangeable tunisian crochet set.

The set include 8 hooks, each made of laminated birch which is supposed to be very sturdy.  It also comes with cables in four lengths, end caps and cable joiners that will let you join all three cables together so there should be virtually nothing I cannot crochet now.  I’m excited both because now I can get started with tunisian crochet and also because these are my first wooden hooks.  Up to now all of my hooks have been metal.

I practiced a little with my one afghan hook, but I have lots of tunisian crochet stitches to explore before I start designing.  I think I’m going to make a sampler blanket to start.  I can’t wait to get started, but I’ve got a pair of socks to finish first.

Stuck in Class

I'm stuck working on my Pinterest class this week but ready to get back to designing | Riotofdaisies.com

My new class started today!  I’m excited but still so overwhelmed.  I was really hoping to get back to designing this week but it looks like I’ll be fairly busy until the weekend.  Then it’s just you and me, hooks!  I’ve been dreaming up more ideas for my upcoming Prancer the Unicorn pattern.  I’m convinced that I need some variegated rainbow yarn.  I’m also thinking about adding some optional wings and a saddle to the pattern but I don’t want to get too ahead of myself.  I can’t wait to get back to it!  A month without designing is too long.
