    What’s amigurumi?

Amigurumi is a japanese slang word for small crochetted or knitted stuff dolls.  Some will say that any toy that is knitted or crochetted is amigurumi but I personally feel that it should also follow the japanese asthetic of kawaii (cuteness).  This usually means anthropomorphic animals or objects, typically with large heads and small bodies, big eyes, small mouths and no noses.  Amigurumi are typically crochetted in spirals (rounds that are not joined) and are usually made as individual pieces and then sewn together.

    What’s a Riot of Daisies?

I’m really fond of the double entendre, especially for obscure alternate meanings of words.  There’s just something about the phrase “a riot of daisies” that tickles that strange part of my brain that finds a play on words a higher form of humor than, say, a poop joke.  It supposed to mean just a wild bunch of daiseys but the image of a bunch of sunny, happy flowers rocking out makes me smile.

    Who am I?

I’m a 20-something software tester for a big corporation in the pacific-northwest.  I live in a tiny apartment with my cat.  When I’m not crocheting or designing amigurumi I’m usually reading or playing games.  I started crochetting as a way to remember my grandmother who passed away due to cancer in 2006.  She made beautiful things that brought comfort to her family and I want to carry on her tradition.
